M.Sc.Industrial Fisheries

It is a two years postgraduate programme comprising of four semesters. Each semester comprises of five papers and a project. The last semester has inplant training of three months and sixty days of hatchery management. The students are exposed to a blend of Management, Economics, Fisheries and Fisheries technology providing the necessary theoretical inputs coupled with practical applications required to function effectively in the industry.

M.F.Sc. Seafood Safety and Trade
Master of Fisheries Science (M.FSc.) in Seafood Safety and Trade is a unique Post Graduate degree course offered by the School of Industrial Fisheries, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). This course was started with the objective to develop manpower specialised in technical and managerial skills demanded by the seafood industry. This course is approved by UGC as per UGC's letter No., F-14-29(A)/2012/(INNO-ASIST) dt.14/01/2012 under "Innovative Programme – Teaching & Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas".
M.Phil. (Fisheries Science)
The school offers M.Phil. programme in Fisheries Science.
Ph.D. Programmes

The school offers PhD programmes in fisheries-related disciplines like aquaculture, fishery biology, fishing craft and gear technology, fish-processing technology, fishery economics and fisheries management.


Admission Procedure (M.Sc.)

Students are admitted after a written test and interview. They pass through a rigorous selection test after which a interview is conducted for final rank list.


Industrial Training

In keeping with the view that theoretical learning should be reinforced with a practical understanding, students are required to undertake industrial training. These training’s are aimed at giving an opportunity to the students to obtain an overview of the working environment of the organisations. At the end, the students are required to prepare a report and present it before a panel of judges comprising of eminent academicians, executives and senior students.

There is three to four months Inplant training’s in any seafood export company to acquire the skills, practical know-how, working atmosphere, experiences, technical knowledge’s and managerial skills.
